Michael Glabicki & Dirk Miller of Rusted Root
WITH CALISTA GARCIA
As the founding member and frontman of Rusted Root, Michael Glabicki has spent the last 30 years tapping into the musical inspirations of the world around us, drawing from the polyrhythmic and propulsive rhythms from Africa to classic American rock and soul. With Glabicki at the front, Rusted Root packed AMP back in 2016, and we’ve got good news for fans of the genre-defying jam band—Glabicki returns to AMP with Rusted Root guitarist Dirk Miller for an intimate evening of stripped-down renditions of Rusted Roots classics like “Send Me on My Way,” “Martyr,” “Ecstasy,” and songs yet to be released. For Rusted Root fans, this is a show not to be missed!
Opening the show is local singer-songwriter Calista Garcia. Considered a “creative machine” by her mentors, the 17-year-old, singer-songwriter brings a mix of rhythmic complexity and lyrical sophistication to her 70’s inspired folk rock that carries a hint of pop and blues. Her accolades include the 2018 National Young Arts Winner, 2017 Berklee Showcase Winner, and the 2017 Bernard/Ebb Young Songwriter of the Year. Her first solo EP is slated for release early summer 2018.
Through a long-standing partnership with Strathmore, the winners of the Bernard/Ebb awards perform as openers to acts at AMP as part of their award prize! Strathmore is proud to partner with this important event dedicated to supporting young songwriters.
