Harold López-Nussa Trio
Likened to the “single-note grace of Herbie Hancock,” and the “joyous two-fisted attacks of Chick Corea,” (Downbeat), Harold López-Nussa is a jazz pianist of extraordinary talent. Channeling his world travels from his fingers to the keys, Nussa’s music is elegant, familiar, and fresh. Equally inspired by places like American, Africa, and his native Cuba, Nussa distills the musical feelings of the world into understated and brilliant jazz. His music sways and grooves with a clarity of purpose and execution that is undeniable. Nussa’s debut album, 2016’s El Viaje, reached No. 1 on the iTunes jazz chart and No. 2 on the Amazon Jazz chart.
Nussa is joined by Gaston Joya, one of Cuba’s brightest musical stars. Joya made his name playing with legendary pianist Chucho Valdés and has toured with Buena Vista Social Club vocalist Omara Portuondo. Ruy López-Nussa rounds out the trio on drums.
Come early for a free, preshow dance lesson from 7–7:30pm with DC Casineros, a world-renowned dance company that performs and teaches Cuban dance styles. Included with concert ticket.
